Reformed Yoga was created when its founder, Lindsey Terry, was diagnosed with a severe spine injury and told major surgery was inevitable. A longtime dancer, yoga and Pilates teacher, and new mom, she instead drew on her experience and skill set to make it her life’s work to overcome her symptoms, avoid surgery and halt any progression in her injury, and apply that knowledge to help her clients.
Lindsey knew that continuing to practice yoga in the same way would only invite further deterioration, so she refocused on Pilates and learned to incorporate the most valuable aspects of it into her yoga practice. Seven years and another pregnancy later, she has experienced no progression in her injury and successfully avoided surgery.
Reformed Yoga combines the strength and stability of Pilates with the flow and flexibility of yoga. We believe that function results from proper FORM. Combining reformer Pilates, vinyasa yoga, core strengthening exercises, and targeted stretches, the technique emphasizes muscular control, and stability through the spine and pelvis.
And because everything is better with a good playlist, all classes incorporate a soundtrack of soulful music.
